A new label model
During 2014 a new kind of label formed.
WEATNU Records follows after the net-label model, that gives the artist complete rights and control over their music.
Living in the modern era of the Internet requires the artist to have options.
Artists in the past who released exclusively though net-labels had a select number of labels to choose from.
While the past included many net-labels, they were very obscure and even hidden.
Many of those labels would eventually retire from the underground scene, and only be a faint memory in the artists who joined them.
The digital underground was mostly unknown by many artists and people but it was growing slowly during those days.
WEATNU is a movement, a movement for artists, giving them the ability to form connections with like-minded music creators and fans who find you though a community that was formed naturally.
We help the artist by way of social media and all of the Internet. By giving them options, they now have free tools to be heard.
WEATNU encompasses in a whole 4 labels, and 2 Internet Radios.
We rely mostly on donations to keep things running smoothly these days, as sales and streaming both do not help to allow for upkeep.
Artist in general can join free and release, and artists enjoy being with us and calling us home.
The artist has complete freedom to release where they like, what label, publication, and platform, including releasing along-side our sub-label/s
We do not adhere to the major label model, as these models take from the artist, essentially giving them little in way of payment, and completely stripping them of their rights as an artist.
We are the New Underground is an advocate for the artist and their music.
Our label/s are fair-pay, always, and give to the artist more than less.
Being non-exclusive means we own nothing of the rights of any artist, and we are giving them even more options as the years pass.
All music is important, just as all artists are important.
WEATNU is a lighthouse shining in the fog helping artists find their way through the murky digital waters we call the Internet.
May it serve you well.
